Early Spring Blooms

April 10th field update: I’m busy planting annuals out in the field. My first succession of ranunculus are budding up and will be mixed into bouquets this weekend! Double tulips, anemones and fancy daffodils will also be in the mix. Spring blooms are my favorite!

June & july BLOOMS

July 21st Field update: It’s been wicked hot and dry this summer but my flower rows are still producing so many colorful blooms. The first of my heat-loving white lisianthus are blooming and they pair so nicely with statice, gold sunflowers and lemon basil. Smells so good! The dahlias are taking their time to get going with a bit of pest pressure. I just don’t think they can handle the heat but I’m hoping they kick into gear in September when things start to cool off.

AUGUST

Zinnias, cosmos, lisianthus, celosia, lemon basil and scented geranium bouquets. The triloba rudbeckia is towering overhead and the first of the dahlias are in bloom. I haven’t seen as many butterflies this season but hopefully they will come.

September, here come the dahlias!

Tulips, ranunculus, anemones and hardy annuals are tucked in for winter. Tis the season to cover and uncover the frost cloths (and check the weather apps obsessively:)
